Online shopping has become an integral part of our daily routines. People can now order food, buy groceries, and even book services online. With these online transactions, seamless payment experiences have become the norm, and consumers expect a smooth and effortless payment journey.
However, payments don't end at the transaction—refunds and other post-purchase processes can create a significant workload for business operations teams. Here's how Opn Payments can help streamline these operational processes:
Handling refunds efficiently is essential for maintaining customer trust and satisfaction. Opn Payments offers two convenient methods for processing refunds:
Via the Dashboard: This is the simplest and most immediate way to handle refunds. By signing in to your Opn Payments account, you can locate the charge you wish to refund, click the "..." button, and select "Refund." You can choose to refund the full amount or just a part of it.
Via the API: For those who prefer more control and automation, refunds can also be created through the Refund API. This method allows integration directly into your application, providing a seamless experience for handling refunds programmatically. Detailed documentation is available to guide you through this process.
Each payment method supports refunds differently. Some may support both full and partial refunds, while others may support only full refunds. The table below provides a quick reference to see which payment methods support full and partial refunds. For partial refunds, merchants have the flexibility to issue partial refunds up to 15 times per transaction.
While a smooth refund process is essential for both the operation team and customers, it can take some time for customers to get their money back. For example, credit card holders will receive the refunded amount in their next billing cycle. Another alternative for card payments is to use partial capture instead.
Capture is the process of withdrawing funds from the customer's account and transferring them to the merchant's account. With partial captures, merchants can withdraw only a part of the authorized amount, and the rest is returned to the customer instantly. This provides more flexibility in handling payments for services like pre-orders, delivery services, and ride-hailing, where the final payment amount may not be known upfront.
For example, a customer buys various items in one order, but the business can only fulfill part of the order because some items are out of stock. Instead of charging the full amount and processing a refund later, the business can use partial capture to adjust the capture amount, avoiding a long refund process altogether.

When a customer disputes a purchase on their debit or credit card, initiating the chargeback process, the merchant can try to prevent the chargeback by proving that the dispute is unjustified. Our dashboard includes an integrated dispute management tool, allowing you to submit all necessary documents directly through the dashboard. Required documents include:
Cardholder details (name, email, phone number, shipping address)
Details of the purchase (list of products purchased)
Signed or verified proof of receipt
Proof of acceptance or cancellation/refund by customers (website access log, consent log, consent pop-up screenshot)
Additionally, you can filter disputes to see transactions that match specific criteria and search for a particular transaction using the dispute ID, making the process more manageable and transparent.
Reporting is crucial for businesses because it not only helps you understand the overall financial picture but also provides insights allows you to make well-informed business decisions. Opn Payments takes this a step further by allowing the inclusion of metadata in reports. This feature is particularly useful for:
Differentiating transactions from different branches to analyze sales performance of each branch
Identifying transactions originating from specific marketing campaigns to measure campaign effectiveness
You can learn more about metadata in our Charge API documentation.
Opn Payments offers a highly flexible charge scheduling system, which includes:
Pausing and Resuming Charges: Merchants can pause scheduled charges temporarily and resume them later without the need to delete and recreate the charges.
Payment Status Monitoring and Filtering: Keep a close eye on your payment statuses and manage them efficiently using filters on the top toolbar.
Handling Multiple Charges: To save time on manual data entry, merchants can set up multiple scheduled charges simultaneously by uploading a .csv file. This bulk processing feature streamlines operations, making it easier to handle large volumes of transactions.
Opn Payments is committed to providing tools that simplify and enhance your payment processing operations, ensuring you can focus on growing your business while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
