By the end of this section, you will be equipped with valuable insights and strategies to excel in behavioral interviews, communicate your thoughts clearly, and demonstrate your teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
So, let's dive in and elevate your interview preparation to the next level!
Behavioral questions are also an important part of our technical interview. It is an opportunity for us to get to know you better. You could also utilize the opportunity to express your career ambitions to the interviewer, ideal working environments, and teams. While answering these questions, demonstrate your overall passion and interest in the opportunity.
Behavioral questions can be asked either at the beginning or towards the end of the interview, such as:
Why are you interested in this role?
Why did you apply at Opn?
Can you describe a situation where you missed a deadline and how you responded to it?
How did you manage conflict in your team?
Can you describe a time when you had to launch a product under a tight deadline?
Can you provide an example of a mistake you made and how you went about solving it?
Can you describe a time you were given feedback you didn’t necessarily agree with?
It is significant to highlight the importance of good communication skills in interviews. Candidates' communication skills are important to us, such that they demonstrate their ability to communicate with their respective teams and participate in the team's various brainstorming sections should they join us. Given our team's diverse and multinational nature, it is also important that candidates can communicate effectively.
To ace this part, you should participate in mock interviews, practice various ways of explaining your thoughts clearly, and structure your questions concerning the role and the products. 'Smalltalk' of this kind is usually initiated by the interviewer towards the end of the interview to allow you to ask questions related to the working culture, team dynamics, and growth opportunities. So, it is crucial that you prepare your questions before the interview.
While communication is an integral part of the technical interview, our interviewers expect to hear your thought process while you work through the given problem. This serves as a reference to your personality, your problem-solving skills, and your ability to work in a team.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for this aspect:
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and admit to making mistakes.
Be comfortable asking questions.
Be honest.
Be engaging.
Mean what you say and say what you mean while being open to suggestions and tips from the interviewer.
In conclusion, mastering behavioral questions, communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving is crucial for a successful technical interview at Opn. Addressing these aspects effectively will enhance your candidacy. Remember to participate in mock interviews, practice clear and concise communication, and prepare thoughtful questions to engage with interviewers.
