SINGAPORE – September 19, 2024 – Omise Payment SG Pte. Ltd., operating as Opn and part of OPN Holdings Co., Ltd., has secured the Major Payment Institution (MPI) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). This follows the in-principle approval issued earlier this year in May.
This licence allows Opn to offer regulated payment services, namely merchant acquisition, domestic money transfer, and cross-border money transfer services.
This milestone is a key step for Opn, allowing the company to offer payment processing services to businesses, allowing them to streamline operations and explore new growth opportunities, both domestically and internationally.
"We are thrilled to receive the MPI licence from MAS. This is a significant milestone for Opn as we continue in our mission to provide seamless and accessible payment solutions to businesses globally," said Gwendolyn Chia, Country manager at Opn (Singapore). “Opn is committed to working closely with regulators and partners to ensure safe practices in facilitating our clients' payment needs.”
Since its founding in 2013, Opn has focused on developing innovative payment solutions that simplify payment processes and support the growth of the digital economy. The company operates in Japan, Southeast Asia, and the U.S., making it a leader in payments across the Asia-Pacific region and one of the top 25 payment processors in the U.S.
